SSJ Curriculum
Our Curriculum Intent: Sparking Curiosity, Deepening Knowledge
At Sherborne St. John, we deliver an engaging, vibrant curriculum designed to help children make meaningful connections across their learning and retain core knowledge for life. By anchoring topics in concepts relevant to our pupils' lives, we inspire children to think critically, explore bravely and ask big questions.
Hands-on Engagement & Cognitive Depth
Our teachers craft rich learning experiences that make knowledge stick. We combine rigorous academic challenge with opportunities for independent thinking, empowering children to take pride in their individual achievements. Through dynamic, real-world topics- such as Crime and Punishment, Intrepid Explorers, The Vikings, Fair trade and comparative studies of London, Dublin, and Paris—learning comes alive.
Subject Mastery & Connected Learning
While we weave cross-curricular links wherever they naturally enrich understanding, we preserve the distinct integrity of individual disciplines. We encourage our pupils to view themselves as true historians, scientists, programmers and artists in their own right, equipping them with the specific tools and mindsets of each subject.
To keep families fully connected with their child's learning journey, curriculum newsletters are sent home every term. You can explore an example of our termly newsletter below.
